So here we go, last year Jenni Semprini became the first DK 411 Fan of the Year winner thanks in large measure to her many years of following BCU athletics. Well this year's winner earned it for similar reasons.
One of the problems I had this year was the fact that towards the end of the basketball season, multiple people were starting to make their case to earn the title, but I ultimately decided to go with a senior who has been Bringing the Noise for a couple of years now.
So the winner is...CHRIS SCHMIDT!!!
Chris (joined in the photo by basketball player Clay Herrald) spent the first part of his time at BCU as a member of the Charger JV Basketball team, and was serving as a student assistant for the varsity until this spring when he became a player on the school's first men's volleyball team.The main thing Chris had going for him when it came to winning this award was the fact that he spread his support between a number of sports. I've seen him at soccer, volleyball, and basketball games (including the women's games which are easier to pick out because most students haven't been supportive enough to show up and watch the ENTIRE women's game).
There were many other worthy candidates that will have a chance to battle for the title again in 2016-17, so let the competition begin once again. I will be watching.
